My own personal journey began after a family tragedy.
It literally felt like the end of the world to me. I dropped out of school and went into a deep depression.

I’m not lying when I say that health and fitness saved my life.
I channeled my pain into the exercises that I began doing. Also, I started training and competing in Brazilian jiu-jitsu and received my brown belt.  

The combination of strength training and intense jiu-jitsu classes provided me with a strong, lean and athletic body. At that time I also began to follow what I thought was a healthy diet. 

Eventually, I became a fitness and health coach and began spending hours in the gym each day either training myself or my clients.  
What I Didn’t Realize Then …
  • ​I was encouraging myself and my clients to work hard but not smart.
  • ​I was getting some great results and helping my clients get into great shape, but there was a problem:
  • It was taking too long. 
  • ​My clients were becoming exhausted and suffering early burn-out from the intense workout schedules I had them on.
  • My clients really liked the results they were getting but it was just too much. 
  • ​As I lost some clients and saw others getting diminishing returns as they grew more and more tired, I really began to question my methods. 
  • ​I knew what I was doing was effective and much better than what most other trainers were offering … but still I knew something was missing. 
So I Put On My Detective Hat & Got To Work!
I literally spent thousands of hours delving deep into the latest, most cutting-edge research on fitness and exercise science for fat loss and muscle building for people over 40.
 
What I ended up eventually discovering shocked me!

I’m not kidding when I say that everything I’d previously believed about how to train to build your best body ever was completely turned on its head!

Why is It So Hard To Lose Weight
in Your 40s and Beyond?
During my research, I learned that there are four major reasons why those in their late 30s, 40s, 50s and older aren’t able to achieve their fitness goals.

Actually, I should say there are five reasons – with the first being the decision to follow workout programs and fad diets that are filled with incorrect information and simply don’t work long-term.

I touched on this before but it bears repeating – there are a lot of myths and outright lies that exist in the fitness industry.

These lies can cause you to lose money and valuable time pursuing results that you are never going to be able to achieve with the weight loss programs being offered on the market.

These programs have you work out hard and following the wrong exercises and can send your frustration levels soaring. Plus — these plans don’t help combat the challenges of an aging body!

So, now let’s look at those four major reasons why men and women over 40 aren’t able to achieve their health and fitness goals.

 
Reason #1: The Biggest Lie in Health & Fitness
Have you ever heard that you just need the right diet and workout plan to get in shape? Well, that’s a lie. 
 
FACT: 95% of diets fail for long-term results. 

Research shows that we don’t have a weight loss problem; people are losing weight all the time. The problem is that most people who have lost weight, gain it all back—maybe even multiple times throughout their life.

Why is this happening?

I asked myself that so many times throughout the 20 years I’ve been in this business. Then I discovered the truth… 

Research shows that when we're anxious, stressed, frustrated, bored, overwhelmed or unhappy, we turn to numbing behaviors. 

Because we think that if we’re busy enough, if we eat enough, if we drink enough alcohol, if we exercise enough, or watch enough TV, that’ll we’ll escape the truth of our lives. 

But the real truth is that the pleasure we got from eating, drinking, and shopping wears off. The exciting TV series comes to an end. And we’re still left with your unsolved problems. 

Now, in case you might be wondering how can you fix that? I'll explain in a sec, keep reading.
Reason #2: You're Still Following Diet Gurus
What "The Experts" Are Saying...
  • Ketogenic diets are the best! 
  • ​You just need to 'eat clean' to lose weight.
  • ​Intermittent fasting is the secret to fat loss.
  • ​Just eat organic foods.
  • ​Do a juice cleanse for 7 days.
  • ​Just go Paleo and you’ll lose fat! caveman and you'll lose fat.
  • ​Cut out the carbs because carbs make you fat.
  • ​Start a juice cleanse and you'll see results.
  • ​Drink protein shakes for breakfast and you'll lose weight quickly.
Guess what? Following bad advice like this works. Because you can’t eat anything! And yes, not eating any food will make you lose weight. 

That’s 100% guaranteed…It’s just not healthy or sustainable. 

At the end of the day, you should be able to enjoy life while getting leaner.
Reason #3: You're Working Hard, Not Smart
Conventional fitness wisdom says that all you need to do is:
  • Do cardio on an empty stomach 
  • ​Use ‘muscle confusion’ workouts
  • Do cardio every day
  • Do high reps for fat loss
  • ​Special celebrity workouts
  • ​You need to take a ton of supplements
  • ​10-minute HIT workouts burn fat like crazy
  • ​If you’re sore, then you had a good workout
  • Train to failure to build muscle fast!
NOTE: Hope isn't a strategy.
This is what I call “cross your fingers and hope for results” fitness.

I bet you want to be the person with a sexy, lean body. But, the saddest part is after trying for years and not succeeding in looking the way they want, most people start to believe that being flabby and out of shape is just part of being over forty.

They believe it’s too late to get their dream body, have vibrant health, and live an extraordinary life.
The truth is that you don’t have to kill yourself at the gym as the so-called gurus say. But you need to have a SMART approach to training. 

Otherwise, you’ll NEVER get the results you want. That’s where most people fail.
Reason #4: Shrinking Sleep = Shrinking Muscles
Turns out, your strength gains might be much better if you squeeze in a little extra shut-eye.

It’s not only that getting enough sleep helps muscles grow. Without adequate sleep muscle mass decreases.

A study in 2011 examined how sleep deprivation affected muscle gains and recovery. 

What researchers discovered was that the individuals who slept only 5.5 hours had 60% LESS muscle mass at the end of the study, while those who slept 8.5 hours had 40% MORE muscle mass.

Fail to get this right and POOR SLEEP will lead to a loss of muscle mass and slowing of your metabolism. In other words, you won’t get good results from your workout and nutrition plan no matter how hard you work at it. Plus, your health will get even worse over time. 

When I say “belly fat hormone” I am referring to cortisol, which is a stress hormone that is released by our adrenal glands. 

It’s also known as the “belly fat” hormone because numerous studies have shown that cortisol increases appetite and signals the body to shift metabolism to store fat. 

While normal levels of cortisol are crucial for health, too much cortisol from excessive stress, over exercising, poor sleep and bad eating habits can wreak hormonal havoc on your health and waistline – preventing you from building muscle and achieving the flat stomach you desire.

Next time you follow a program make sure the program is designed to reduce cortisol in your body so you don’t waste months of your life trying to see your abs with no success.

As we age it may take us longer to get our bodies “warmed up” which is important for preventing injuries.If you are in your 40s, maybe fifteen years ago you could jump right into an intense workout and hoist hundreds of pounds without the slightest warm up.

Even then it wasn’t the smartest thing to do but now it can be downright dangerous. That’s because as we get older we tend to have more inflammation in our body. That means it’s easier to get nagging injuries like tendonitis, knee pain and backaches.

It’s critical to follow a program that takes these factors into consideration and ensures that you are always warmed up and ready to go before doing any intense work.

That’s right, the reason that fitness program that you’ve been following leaves you in pain and causes you to take days to recover is most likely not adapted for your age!

These are two more important factors that must be considered by exercising men and women as they age.

For men, testosterone levels tend to peak during adolescence and early adulthood. Those levels typically decline by about 1 percent each year, starting around age 30. 

But in some cases, you may experience declining testosterone at a younger age—especially with physical inactivity, poor sleep and too much stress. Now you wouldn’t be familiar with any of those things now would you?

For women heading to menopause and low testosterone, your estrogen production declines, accelerating bone loss. This is why you can expect up to a 30% decline in bone mass in your 50s if you skip exercise.

Now I want you to stop for a second and think if your current program is designed to help you increase testosterone – increased testosterone production can help you look and feel younger and prevent the dreaded signs of aging – which can include bone loss and stiff and sore joints. 

Our program, which I’m going to reveal to you in just a moment, even has a diet plan that includes foods that naturally boost testosterone levels and increase sex drive.

Reason #4: A Busy Lifestyle

The older and busier we get, the less time we seem to have for ourselves. Unfortunately, this often means that we tend to prioritize career, family and social life at the expense of our own well-being.

For example, it’s an unfortunate truth that busy people tend to eat the easiest food available, which is often unhealthy food like “fast food.”

Then when we finally do find time to exercise, it’s harder than ever. Our bodies seem to ache more, it’s easier to get injured and we don’t see results as fast as we used to.

A good program will take this into account and help you ease into working out. The program should also NOT require long workout sessions that interrupt your schedule and add to your stress and frustration.

This means all that unsightly belly flab in front of your tummy not only makes you feel insecure, unattractive and frustrated but even worse...

You could be silently putting yourself at risk for type 2 diabetes, heart disease, dementia, Alzheimer's, a heart attack, or sudden stroke.

That’s why it is so important to not just exercise regularly but to follow a complete lifestyle program that is focused on health optimization, brain health, and longevity.

Get a Lean, Firm, Fit-Looking Body

Muscle is what gives a body its shape and definition. 

There are lots of people in the world who are technically “skinny” but I refer to them as being “skinny fat.”
The main reason is because typical fad diets are designed to get the weight off as fast as possible so they end up stripping away lots of shapely lean muscle before you ever get the chance to lose the fat and expose it. 

The result is soft, saggy bodies like you see in those pictures on the left.

That’s not what we want for you. We want a lean body featuring shapely muscle and that is firm to the touch. No doughy thighs and soft butt.

It All Comes Down to What I Call the Five Rules of Body Transformation

Rule #1: Practice Smart Nutrition
  • One of the big problems with weight loss gimmicks, scams, supplements, and fad diets is they don’t deliver sustainable results.
  • There is one simple question you need to ask yourself to know if what you’re doing is the right approach: “Can I see myself doing this for the rest of my life?”.
  • If the answer is “No”, then what you’re doing is a ‘quick fix’ solution and is a waste of your time. It’s just not the right approach for you for the long-term.
  • To end this cycle, you need to learn a sustainable system.
  • After nearly two decades of research, we clearly see that the more strict a nutrition approach is (cutting out carbs, not eating fruit, banning desserts, etc.) the less likely a person will be able to stick with it for the long-term. 
  • So, you need to STOP being the person who follows a fad diet to lose a quick 20lbs then gains it back year after year.
  • START being the person who does it the RIGHT way, builds lasting habits, and never struggles with their health & fitness again.
 
Rule #2: Train For Your Age & Body Goals

To transform your body as you get older, you need a new approach. 

  • The truth is that the exercises you used in high school will eventually stop working and may even hurt you. You need to stop punishing your body with extreme workouts that leave you exhausted and in pain.
  • Time is everything. You need an approach that halves your gym time while doubling your results. I know you're super busy growing your career and/or business, being a great parent, and working to keep the spark alive in your relationship. Let's not waste hours at the gym.
  • After 40, an effective training program needs to focus on range-of-motion work to prevent injuries and a personalized recovery zone designed to accelerate your recovery and elevate your conditioning.
  • Now you know what you MUST follow to sculpt lean muscle after 40 – if nothing has worked for you in the past, this is the information you should know.
Rule #3: Fix Your Mindset, Fix Your Life
  • Most people lose the same 10-20lbs over and over again in a repeating pattern they can’t get out of. They spend $1000’s of dollars on gym memberships, personal training, food, ebooks, and courses. And despite training hard in the gym and doing all of that, they still never see what their body is truly capable of.
  • THE TRUTH: No Detox, Cleanse, Intermittent Fasting, Keto, Crossfit, or HIIT workout will fix the underlying problems in your life.
  • Aren't you tired of being stuck in this cycle of when you're anxious, stressed, frustrated, bored, overwhelmed or unhappy, you turn to destructive behaviors like turning to food, alcohol, watching too much Tv, or shopping, all to escape the truth of your life?
  • In other words, you’re using food (and other things) to fix things that food can’t fix. That’s why nutrition and exercise alone are not enough. You MUST be willing to address the reasons you’re numbing yourself in the first place if you want to lose fat and NEVER gain it back ever again.
  • Without doing this, you’re going to be one of the 95% of people who lose weight then gain it back again—often repeating this cycle many decades in their life.
  • The bottom line here is that if you fix your diet and adjust your training program for your age, but still don't see long-term results, it is not your diet or fitness program that is holding you back. The real problem is your mindset and life choices. And in order to change that you need a mentor. We'll talk about that in a bit. Keep reading!
Rule #4: There's NO Perfect Time!
  • There are two reasons why you don’t have the body you want:
